Introduction to Fractwall

For the most recent, official documents, please check the following: Fractwall Whitepaper Folder

So I've decided, at least for now, to call this project fractwall.com. So far I have setup the basics on the Kickstarter account, and added good rewards (at least in my opinion). I also calculated the rough layout for the labyrinth (which was needed to estimate number of rewards available), and created a spreadsheet to explain the rewards. There are two tabs: 'financial' details for the rewards, and 'descriptions' that explain how rewards work in this kickstarter.

But I have not yet filled in 'the story'. I also haven't yet started the video, though I've been thinking of what I want to do in that regard, especially music and editing for what i have been thinking. Of course, I may just have to wing-it on the video and just go for simplicity and a straightforward appeal to intelligence and appreciation for utilitarian novelty.

As a part of preparing for the Kickstarter project, I am going to blog. In particular, some of the topics planned would be like:

  • Prototype Redevelopment
    • including Three.js tutorials (using r57)
    • skybox, simple maze layout, textures, tiling,
    • audio, video, direction controls, lighting,
    • dynamic shaders, object events (location enter/exit, etc)
  • Major contributors in the developer community including
    • support folks that help out the newbies in irc, or contribute documentation
    • who answers questions on stackoverflow?
    • who is developing platforms that make it easier for other developers
    • who creates the most varied and interesting glsl shaders?
    • what sites need additional support, and what specifically?
  • Community Driven Content Moderation
  • Cross Platform Tools for Open Source Communities
  • HTML5 and 'Caching' resources (e.g. audio, canvas, 3d objects, etc)
  • Pure Client-Only implementations
  • Server Functionality Clients Cannot provide alone
    • shared environments via channels api (gae) and/or web sockets (aws/azure)
    • use-cases / limitations of these approaches
  • Preparing for the Holiday Season Early this Year
So the basic goal of this blog, of course is to promote not just fractwall, but to document my experience so that others may either follow in my footsteps (if i succeed) or avoid my mistakes (should i fail).

To all those that are supporters of this project. Thank you!
