Sunday Status Update
It's been several weeks now and I feel like I am making much progress. However, like a long Hike, it's as if every time I crest a hill, the landscape opens to reveal yet another hill yonder! So I've been working on some evangelizing, trying to recruit some new-blood gamers into the fold, updated all rewards and spreadsheets and 'greypaper', at least setup the framework projects on kickstarter and indiegogo, made a few sample videos (links below), etc.
Also, been thinking about the name 'fractwall'. Sounds like the slang term for the wall they line you up on when they execute you on Battlestar Galactica, or something. Oh well. If anyone has a better suggestion, we'll go with it, but it has to be soon, otherwise Fractwall will have to do. But still hanging on for some last minute inspiration or a good suggestion.
I just can't help it. I think this is going to become dark labyrinth.
all that work needs to be moved o a new name now.
better get on this...
signing out, hopefully will be back with a LINK HERE to darklabyrinth.something

Happy Birthday Leonhard Euler
His name is pronounced 'oiler' not 'yuler'. I know, I had it confused or a long time as well. In any event, today is Euler's 306th Birthday, and needless to say, without Euler, Fractwall probably wouldn't even be possible (unless someone else invented the equivalent of Euler angles, matrix orientation, quaternions, and much more).
I just had to at least post a recognition of this amazing mathematician, physicist and astronomer. Check out the Google Doodle :)

Fractwall Project Test Videos
I know these videos are not really very good. But I wanted to at least get a head start on the video, so these following links are to test videos I created and uploaded to YouTube. Hope they are at least somewhat fun.
The next thing I am going to do is actually record re-writing this application in r57 of THREE.js. This will get layered in with the other video, along with some excerpts from other THREE.js examples of 3d Worlds. Much work. Hopefully all this work up front will save me time when the project launches, as many questions will already be answered and major development 'challenges' properly identified and addressed up front.

Introduction to Fractwall
For the most recent, official documents, please check the following: Fractwall Whitepaper Folder
So I've decided, at least for now, to call this project fractwall.com. So far I have setup the basics on the Kickstarter account, and added good rewards (at least in my opinion). I also calculated the rough layout for the labyrinth (which was needed to estimate number of rewards available), and created a spreadsheet to explain the rewards. There are two tabs: 'financial' details for the rewards, and 'descriptions' that explain how rewards work in this kickstarter.
But I have not yet filled in 'the story'. I also haven't yet started the video, though I've been thinking of what I want to do in that regard, especially music and editing for what i have been thinking. Of course, I may just have to wing-it on the video and just go for simplicity and a straightforward appeal to intelligence and appreciation for utilitarian novelty.
As a part of preparing for the Kickstarter project, I am going to blog. In particular, some of the topics planned would be like:
- Prototype Redevelopment
- including Three.js tutorials (using r57)
- skybox, simple maze layout, textures, tiling,
- audio, video, direction controls, lighting,
- dynamic shaders, object events (location enter/exit, etc)
- Major contributors in the developer community including
- support folks that help out the newbies in irc, or contribute documentation
- who answers questions on stackoverflow?
- who is developing platforms that make it easier for other developers
- who creates the most varied and interesting glsl shaders?
- what sites need additional support, and what specifically?
- Community Driven Content Moderation
- Cross Platform Tools for Open Source Communities
- HTML5 and 'Caching' resources (e.g. audio, canvas, 3d objects, etc)
- Pure Client-Only implementations
- Server Functionality Clients Cannot provide alone
- shared environments via channels api (gae) and/or web sockets (aws/azure)
- use-cases / limitations of these approaches
- Preparing for the Holiday Season Early this Year
So the basic goal of this blog, of course is to promote not just fractwall, but to document my experience so that others may either follow in my footsteps (if i succeed) or avoid my mistakes (should i fail).
To all those that are supporters of this project. Thank you!
